Honour awards near
NOMINATIONS are about to close for the 2008 Manawatu District Community Honours Awards which recognise significant contributions to the community by individuals or groups.
The awards - to be presented at the council’s final meeting of the year on Thursday, December 18 - were initiated in 1991 and 53 district residents have since been honoured. A maximum of three awards are presented each year.
The honours are intended for Manawatu District residents, but in exceptional circumstances the selection committee can make an award to a non-resident if the community service has been carried out in the district.
