The concept of someone’s trash becoming another person’s treasure is catching on in Tararua.

So much so that the council’s waste manager Jeremy Hirst plans to make Second Hand Sundays a six monthly instead of an annual event.

The district’s second ‘second hand Sunday’ saw an increase in Dannevirke registrations and participation in Woodville and Pahiatua.

In another pleasing sign, some neighbours worked co operatively by combining to operate from one address, Mr Hirst noted.
