Work in Dannevirke High St will be scaled down next week to make way for Christmas shopping.
From December 8 the machinery and ‘high vis’ jackets will be whittled back to smaller tidying up tasks, advises landscape architect Jo Bruerton.

Contractor’s work still to be done will include tree planting and laying the small ‘mistral’ charcoal pavers outside shop frontages.

Ms Bruerton said the aim was to minimise disruption to Christmas trade.

Meanwhile attention has moved to the side streets where Higgins Contractors is currently laying hot mix.
From December 15 Higgins will return to High St to complete laying hot mix at the southern end, but prior to this – in a separate contract – Infracon will be preparing the area.

This will involve road works in the area of Barraud, Station and Miller Streets.

Ms Bruerton hoped the preparation process would not be too onerous for members of the public and expected the hot mix to be a night-time operation.
