Queenstown Lakes District prime choice for affluent Kiwi's
Surprisingly, New Zealand’s most affluent place is not one of our major cities. It’s somewhere that more and more of our financially successful kiwis seem to be flocking to - Queenstown Lakes District. The southern resort district just scraped in to beat NorthShoreCity to the mantle of New Zealand’s Most Affluent Place
The report shows the top five affluent places in New Zealand are Queenstown Lakes District with 560 points followed by North Shore City (545); Wellington City (445); AucklandCity (445) and RodneyDistrict (400).
When lots of people find a certain area desirable, the house prices rise as a result of the demand. There are a number of reasons why people find certain areas desirable like good schools, natural beauty and quality of life. Housing prices are part of the social barometer that decides whether a place is more or less desirable. The more sought after a suburb or district is to live in, the more expensive property becomes.
The current TopSpot report, New Zealand’s Most Affluent Places, reflects the analysis of 20 places with the highest property prices in the country. It then drills down to see how they stack up against each other in a range of categories like households earning more than $100 000 a year, percentage of residents with a degree and residents who are CEO’s, General Managers or Legislators.
“The report shows that New Zealand’s well-heeled are flocking to live in Queenstown. It offers a pristine environment and enviable lifestyle that’s now easily accessible thanks to the ongoing development of its airport,” says report author, Stephen Hart.
ASB launched the TopSpot series of reports as part of their commitment to provide home buyers with useful information and tools to make owning a home and finding the ideal neighbourhood as easy as possible.
