As the first half of the State Championship competition comes to an end, another century from State Central Stags skipper Mathew Sinclair has closed the gap on teammate Ewen Thompson at the top of the State MVP table.

Sinclair’s 164 in the drawn match with the State Wellington Firebirds was his third century in as many games, and moves him to third on the overall table and to the top of the batting MVP.

Central Stags players dominate the MVP tables with Thompson leading the bowling and wicket keeper Bevan Griggs pushing State Otago Volts keeper Derek de Boorder in the fielding competition.

Craig Cumming’s 105 for the Volts against the State Auckland Aces was the other major move in the MVP in a quiet week in the Championship. Cumming moved from seventh to third on the batting table and from 31st to 11th on the overall table.
