Warning to taggers
If you tag property this summer chances are that you will get caught.
The warning comes from Manukau City Council Community Safety Portfolio Leader Councillor Dick Quax.
Cr Quax says the council has put considerable resources into removing tags, painting murals and surveillance.
“Every month our investigators, in partnership with the police, are identifying, apprehending and arresting people involved in graffiti vandalism.
“I’m particularly pleased with the way that the city looks at the moment – there is certainly less graffiti around and we want to keep it that way,” Cr Quax says.
Graffiti vandalism costs Manukau ratepayers more than one million dollars each year to clean up. It has a significant impact on the sense of community safety and community pride.
Reports of graffiti vandalism should go the council call centre 262 5104.
