Three new mobility scooters have been donated by TSB Bank for use in Pukekura Park.

The scooters will enable those with limited mobility to wander around the park with their families – including at night during the TSB Bank Festival of Lights.

Manager Parks Programmes Steve McGill says these have replaced some of the previous scooters than operated in the park, also donated by TSB Bank, bringing the total number available to four.

“It’s a very popular service as the scooters, along with the larger daytime mobility cart we have, open up the park to people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to manage the walk,” he says.

“What makes these scooters particularly useful is that we can make them available during the evenings while the festival is running.”

The scooters are free to use but must be booked beforehand. Please contact the council on 06-759 6060 for booking information.
