Waipawa River Ban and River Warnings.
Up to 18 millimetres of rain has fallen in parts of the Hawke’s Bay ranges, but little has reached the plains areas in the past week. Bans remain on some areas within the Ngaruroro River catchment but again, little rain is forecast over the coming week.
Warnings have been reinstated on the Maraekakaho Stream with one further ban applied to Waipawa River for the 4000L/sec low flow limit and a warning applied for all other Waipawa River levels.
In summary:
Irrigation bans in Hawke’s Bay are on the Ngaruroro River at Whanawhana (consent s with low flow cutoffs @ 15000L/sec & 12800L/sec), Waipawa River (consent s with low flow cutoffs @ 4000L/sec), Karamu Stream (consent s with low flow cutoffs @ 1100L/sec), Papanui, Karewarewa, Poukawa, Irongate and Te Waikaha Stream.
Under warning are takes from the Kauhauroa Stream tributary (Wairoa River catchment), Maraekakaho Stream, the Puhokio Stream at both levels (consent s with low flow cutoffs @ 120L/sec & 80L/sec) and the Waipawa River (consent s with low flow cutoffs @ 3400L/sec, 3000L/sec & 2300L/sec).
