BLACKCAPS batsman Jesse Ryder will not take any further part in the current Australia tour, and will return to New Zealand today [Monday 2 February]. The shoulder injury which flared up in training last week has not responded sufficiently to treatment, and is continuing to cause restricted movement. Jesse will receive further treatment in New Zealand. Craig Cumming will remain with the tour party.

Reserve wicket keeper Gareth Hopkins will remain with the squad at least until tomorrow [Tuesday]. Team manager Lindsay Crocker said Brendon McCullum came through yesterday’s One Day International well, but his hip flexor injury will be further assessed tomorrow to confirm whether he will continue with full wicketkeeping duties.
