Wheels turning on East Taupo Arterial

Preparatory work for the East Taupo Arterial (ETA) roading project is well underway with the completion of the new wastewater land disposal site at View Road and the removal of trees from the planned route.

“The new wastewater land disposal site has been developed at View Road because part of the original Rakanui Road disposal site is on a corridor of land required for the construction of the ETA,” says ETA Project Manager, Ron Boyle. De-commissioning of the section affected at the Rakanui Road site, was completed mid-January.

In the meantime, logging clearing is underway along the ETA route in preparation for the next stage of the project – the installation of stormwater pipes.

“The project office in Totara Park is starting to fill up with personnel as the job progresses with more expected as we move forward,” says Mr Boyle.

Over 150 guests have been invited to the official Sod Turning Ceremony for the East Taupo Arterial on 13 February.
