Watch Out For Hot Chips Pedestrians Advised

Pedestrians should be watching out for ‘hot chips’ – but not the edible variety.

Motorists travelling on recently sealed roads affected by excessive heat are flicking chips onto footpaths and entranceways, advises manager Consultancy Ray Cannon.

Pedestrians and the elderly in particular needed to be aware of uneven surfaces and melting tar chips, he said.
Footpaths in Pahiatua, Woodville and Dannevirke are the most affected.

Contractors were aware of the issue and the areas of concern were being swept, Mr Cannon said.
