Over 500 requests for information have been received from businesses wanting to make sure that they are prepared for an economy that is expected to get more challenging later this year. Most requests relate to business tools that force businesses to look at the way they are doing business and the things they can do to improve. Popular requests cover issues such as business planning, cash flow, debtor management and employment.

Chamber CEO, Michael Barnett who is a part of a team managing the implementation of the package suggested that for the first few days after the release of the package businesses focussed on the tax components but over the next month he expects businesses to acknowledge that there is a lag between what the predictions are and the reality of business today. On that basis he says firms have the opportunity to review the way they are doing business and put in place best practise for the more challenging times ahead.

The Business Package included a business health check, mentoring, an advice line and a range of business tools to support small and medium businesses- all at no cost to business.
