Nominations for Onewhero/Tuakau Community Board By-Election open today
Nominations open today for a by-election to elect a new member to the Onewhero/Tuakau Community Board of the Franklin District Council. This follows the recent death of Brian Fyfe.
To be eligible for nomination, a candidate must be a New Zealand citizen and registered as a Parliamentary elector. A candidate must be nominated by two electors of the Onewhero/Tuakau Community Board.
Nomination forms are available from the Franklin District Council’s Administration Office at 82 Manukau Road, Pukekohe, by phoning the Electoral Office on 0800 922 822 to have one posted out, or by downloading one from the Council’s website (www.franklin.govt.nz).
Nominations must be received by the Electoral Officer by 12 noon on Tuesday 10 March 2009.
For one month from Tuesday 10 February 2009 the preliminary electoral roll will be available for people to inspect and check their eligibility as an elector, at the above Council office, and the Pukekohe and Tuakau libraries and post shops.
If an election is required, voting documents would be mailed from Tuesday 7 April 2009. Completed documents would be returned by noon on Wednesday 29 April 2009 and the preliminary results would be available early that afternoon.
