Council seeks further information on the Waipa Delta
Council last night asked its chief executive to continue to gather information on what it might cost ratepayers to keep the Waipa Delta operating on the Waikato River in Hamilton.
The request for financial information came after CEO Michael Redman tabled updated information at last night's Council meeting after discussions with Waipa Delta owner Mark Goudie.
Mr Redman said Mr Goudie had given some thought to reassessing his position about leaving Hamilton with the Waipa Delta.
Issues still to be resolved remain around resource consent permission for floating pontoon's in the river to allow the vessel to operate in the river. Further investigation is also required to understand the state of associated infrastructure that Mr Goudie wants Council to take responsibility for.
It's expected to take several weeks to before a cost estimate and a timeline for the resource consent can be presented to Council.
