New Zealand Academy of Sport North (NZAS North) has organised a powerful line-up of international speakers at this year’s Performance Forum in Ellerslie on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th February.

Speakers include Horst Wein, one of the world’s foremost mentors of soccer coaches and coach of the Olympic silver medal winning Spanish hockey team and Dr Peter Davis, who has directed sport science and medicine for Olympic programmes in the US, Australia and Canada, as well as advising high performance coaches in over 20 countries.

New Zealander Rich Masters, Associate Professor at the Institute of Human Performance at the University of Hong Kong and arguably the world’s leading expert in Implicit Motor Learning is also scheduled to speak.

“We are delighted with the quality of the speakers for this Forum, and are pleased to be providing an opportunity for New Zealand coaches and high performance personnel to access world-leading expertise,” said NZAS North Chief Executive, Pete Pfitzinger.

“The purpose of the forum is to bring together international experts, New Zealand’s leading coaches, support team members and managers of national sport organisations to further their knowledge of how to enhance athletic performance,” said Pfitzinger.

Many of New Zealand’s leading coaches will be there to gain and share new insights, including Silver Ferns coaches Ruth Aitken and Leigh Gibbs, Wheel Blacks coach Grant Sharman and New Zealand Women’s Hockey Coach Kevin Towns.

“The Performance Forum provides an excellent opportunity to share knowledge with other coaches,” said Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken.

Highlight addresses at the forum will include:

 Horst Wein’s keynote address “Coaching across sports: The intelligence of the athlete”
