Spruce-Up for Kawaroa Playground
Most of the Kawaroa playground will be temporarily unavailable during the last two weeks of March as the equipment is given a spruce-up.
From next Monday (16 March) the play equipment in the playground’s central area will be removed so that the iron supports can be replaced with timber poles, and the equipment checked and repainted.
In addition, the ground’s bark chip surface will be replaced with another bark product and the barriers around the playground adjusted to meet the new standards for play areas.
“This is routine maintenance for a very popular park,” says Manager Parks Mark Bruhn.
“All of the equipment that is there now will be returned to the playground once the work is completed.
“The project is weather dependent, but the playground should be open again by Saturday 28 March.”
The play equipment nearest the squash courts will remain open for use during this project; however, the car park next to the playground will be closed for two days to give access to large trucks.
“We’ll advise the public when the car park’s closure dates are known,” says Mr Bruhn.
