WELLINGTON CITY

Two lucky New Zealanders are going to be the first people in the world to get tickets to the Rugby World Cup 2011 Final at Eden Park.

Heineken International is giving away the tickets in Wellington this week (Mar. 18).

Sports fans simply need to be seated inside the Wellington Regional Stadium on Waterloo Quay by midday Wednesday. Those who show will go in the draw to win a pair of tickets to the Final in Auckland. The on-sale date of public tickets will be early next year.

The two lucky sports fans will be sitting in Eden Park’s grandstand for the match on October 23, 2011.

Brian Blake, managing director Heineken New Zealand, says Heineken dreamed up the competition as a way to ensure a couple of Kiwis were the first to get ringside seats.

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to present the first two tickets to the Final to New Zealanders. And we promise that over the next 905 days until the Trophy is presented, Heineken will be providing lots more opportunities for Kiwis to get to the games.

It was estimated that 4.2 billion people watched the Rugby World Cup 2007 Tournament and organisers are expecting the figure to increase in 2011.

Rugby World Cup 2011 begins in New Zealand on September 9. Twenty teams will compete in four pools across 13 New Zealand venues to find the world’s best rugby team in 2011.

NOTE: Members of the public attending the draw will be presented with a numbered ticket on entry to the Wellington Regional Stadium. The ticket with the winning number drawn between 12 noon and 12.30pm Wednesday March 18, 2009 wins the prize of two tickets to Rugby World Cup 2011 Final at Eden Park. Entrants must be aged 18 or older and be present at the time of the draw to win the prize.
