Can You Nominate a Champion?
Nominations open this Monday (23 March) for the Citizens’ Awards 2009 – and New Plymouth District Council needs your help.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who has a neighbour, a colleague, a friend or an acquaintance who deserves consideration for a Citizens’ Award,” says Acting Manager Community Development Mary-Anne Priest.
“Often these are people who prefer to not be in the spotlight, but who are champions in our community because of their years of work behind the scenes.
“We’re also looking for people who have done an exception action – a single act of bravery or significant effort that benefited the people or the community around them.
“These people deserve to be recognised for the great contributions they make to our district.”
People who have received royal or national honours for their service or actions are also eligible to be considered for a Citizens’ Award.
Up to 12 Citizens’ Awards are presented every year, with this year’s ceremony being held on 23 July.
Nomination forms will be available from all council offices and on this website. Nominations close on 30 April.
