Deadline for Grants Applications Rapidly Approaching
Wellington City Council is urging not-for-profit community groups and organisations undertaking projects that benefit the city socially, culturally, economically or environmentally to get their applications in for the next round of general grants - which closes on Tuesday 31 March.
Grants Subcommittee Chairperson, Councillor Stephanie Cook, says in the last general grants round, held in October last year, the Council allocated more than $300,000 of funding to a wide array of community groups.
"It's fantastic the Council has been able to support such a good cross-section of projects that will directly benefit our local community. In the last round we funded everything from a football training programme for homeless people to a theatre project bringing people together from our Mori and African communities.
"The deadline for the next round of general grants is now rapidly approaching. If any not-for-profit groups are planning projects that will benefit our city I'd strongly recommend they apply for funding."
Applications for the next round of general grants are due by 5.00pm on Tuesday 31 March. This is the third and final round for this financial year and projects starting after 11 May 2009 are eligible.
Applications for Sports Development grants, the Built Heritage Incentive Fund and the Creative New Zealand Wellington Local Funding Scheme also close that same day.
