With his team guaranteed a place in the State Championship final on April 6, Mathew Sinclair looks set to mount a strong challenge for the overall MVP title this season.

With steady performances in the field and two half centuries in the last three games, Sinclair’s consistent form has seen him move from 5th to 2nd on the overall MVP leaderboard. The State Central Stags captain is keen to end the season as the MVP, but the State Championship trophy remains his number one priority.

“Ewen Thompson and I have been having our own battle over the MVP table all season. Hopefully I can come out on top, but as long as the Stags win the Championship final, I’ll be happy.”

Other big movers in the MVP table are Johannes Myburgh, the State Canterbury Wizards all-rounder. Myburgh scored an impressive 199 and 101 not out in the recent loss to the Stags, and finds himself in the MVP top ten for the first time this season.

In the State Championship MVP, Daryl Tuffey joins early pace setter Colin de Grandhomme near the top of the table. The State Auckland Aces pair have been instrumental in ensuring their side qualified for the final of the State Championship competition, with Tuffey’s 6 for 33 against ND the best figures in the competition this season.
