Champions Show Class At Taekwondo Champs

AUCKLAND

Reigning Oceania Poomsae (patterns) Taekwondo champions Ara Cho and Peter Woon, both from the Ace club in Auckland won the top divisions of the women’s and men’s individual titles on the second and final day of the TNZ New Zealand Open in Auckland.

Cho scored 80 points from her two routines of precision techniques in the increasingly popular form of the WTF-style taekwondo to win from Hutt City’s Marlies Niewstraten (75) and Australian Sally Fernandes (72).

Peter Cho registered the highest score of the day with an 81 to beat clubmate Seo Hee Ahn (79) and Australian Aynerick Le Conte (69).

Other winners were Australians Richard Hyunh in the senior 2nd male and Nicholas Goulding (youth male) Joshua Lui (junior male), Samantha Knox (youth female) and Shuo Yang (junior female).

Pairs and teams competitions were also held and the competition concluded with the highly entertaining creative forms set to music.
