Have Your Say by the First of May
A month of consultation on New Plymouth District's Draft 2009-2019 Community Plan has opened today (Tuesday).
Copies of the draft plan are available from council offices and district libraries, and the draft plan and its summary are available in the Consultation section of this website.
“From next week all residents will get a copy of the summary in their letterboxes, which gives a good overview of the main issues and the council’s proposed way forward for the district,” says Mayor Peter Tennent.
“The summary also has a submission form that people can fill in, and more forms are available at district libraries. Alternatively, people can lodge their submissions online through the council’s website, or by contacting the council by phone, email or fax.
“The date to remember is 1 May – that is when all submissions must be in to the council.
“We encourage people to have a look at the proposed plan and get their comments back to us about what they support and what they want changed,” says the Mayor.
For the first time, NPDC has opened a web forum at www.talknewplymouth.com, where the public can discuss any topic in the draft plan. Council managers will answer any questions that are posted.
Submissions to the draft plan close at 5pm on Friday 1 May. Public hearings will be held from 3-5 June, and the council will consider all submissions on Monday 8 June.
The final 2009-2019 Community Plan will be adopted on 29 June.
