Be sure to put in your Infracon Tararua Sportsperson of the year nominations

If you play sport and belong to a club in the Tararua District, you are bound to know someone who deserves to be nominated in the annual Infracon Tararua Sportsperson of the Year awards.

Many people within sports clubs do a lot of work behind the scenes, but they can be overlooked which is why Sport Tararua introduced last year the Administrator/Volunteer category. Please make sure you get your nomination in so people can get the recognition they deserve on and off the sports field.

There are six categories available for nominations: Junior sportsperson of the year, Team of the year, Coach of the year, Official of the year, Administrator/Volunteer of the year and Sportsperson of the year. All individual nominees are also eligible for the “People’s choice personality of the year” award, which is decided by public vote. Make sure you pick up an application form from any Council Service Centre or download one from www.sporttararua.org.nz. Nominations close on Tuesday March 31.

Anyone wishing to attend the awards will be able to purchase tickets from all Tararua District Council Service Centres in Pahiatua, Dannevirke, Eketahuna and Woodville from Monday April 6. Tickets cost $40 and include the awards ceremony with guest speaker Sarah Ulmer, dinner and dessert prepared by The Vault Cafe in Dannevirke and entertainment from new local Pahiatua band “beats work’n”.
