Kiwi Juniors Continue Their Domination Of Australians
The New Zealand Northern No1 team has won the title for Australasian under-17 badminton supremacy with a victory over the Victoria Rebels in the June Bevan tournament in Ballarat.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Northern NZ and their second over Victoria in a row continuing their domination of the junior level badminton between the two nations - their seventh win in the past nine years.
The North team was led by Evan Lee(North Harbour) in the top singles and Riga Oud(Auckland) in doubles with Victoria Cheng(Lloyd Elsmore Club, Auckland) the leading woman. In the final the Northern team beat Victoria 10-6.
New Zealand North(2) was the second best of the Kiwi sides in fifth.
The individual championships start on Wednesday night.
