Orcon is delving deeper in to website and server hosting by acquiring the business of Wellington-based company iSERVE.

Orcon has bought the assets of iSERVE effective from 1 May, and staff will transition to Orcon with effect from that date.

Orcon CEO Scott Bartlett says the move gives Orcon an entrée into more advanced hosting services, as well as a physical base in Wellington from which to better serve its clients in the capital.

“We have a strong presence in the Internet environment but we want to go beyond just broadband and hosting is one area where we believe we can add zing,” Bartlett says.

“iSERVE is very strong in advanced hosting services which bolsters our web operations and reinforces our one-stop-shop positioning. It’s a profitable company with a strong history of innovation and their people will play a prime role in our strategic plan to develop outstanding hosting products and grow our customer base under the Orcon brand.”

Bartlett says iSERVE is the country’s second largest specialty hosting business. It offers a range of hosting products, including website hosting, dedicated server hosting, cloud computing services, domain name solutions and more. The iSERVE team, under Orcon management, will continue to operate from Wellington.
