10-year plan submissions close, hearings to begin
Manukau City Council has received around 19,800 individual submissions to its Long Term Council Community Plan (10-year plan).
The submissions covered a wide range of issues, Group Manager Strategic and Annual Planning Ken Coulam says.
“We received proforma submissions on Manurewa Netball, the Manurewa Community Houses, Anchorage Park House, the Uxbridge Redevelopment and the proposal for a second stage of TelstraClear Pacific events centre. We also received a petition regarding the Garden of Memories with 410 signatures as well as many hundreds of submissions on other issues the community wants councillors to consider in the final plan,” Mr Coulam says.
Of those people who made submissions, 294 indicated that they wish to speak to their submissions, which is more than most years.
The hearings start on 18 May at 9.30am at the Clevedon Community Hall. Hearing sessions will be held at venues throughout the city during the week. The timetable can be found on the council’s website, www.manukau.govt.nz.
“It is encouraging that so many people have become involved in what will be the council’s last 10-year plan, and in particular that many took advantage of the council’s on-line submission form, through the dedicated plan website www.tellusyourmanukau.govt.nz.”
The Policy and Activities committee will consider the submissions on 4–5 June. The full council will finalise the plan on 30 June, with the final plan available in July on the websites as well as in print documents in all libraries and the council’s Customer Centre.
