Council seeks to amend Long Bay Reserve delegation
Service Delivery Committee to take the lead and work with the Community Board.
At this week's full Council meeting, the Thames-Coromandel District Council chose to seek to consult with the Coromandel-Colville Community Board on amending the Coromandel Reserve Management Plan.
After noting the historical role of the Coromandel-Colville Community Board, the Council gave consideration to an inconsistency in the Coromandel Reserve Management Plan that gave delegation to both the Service Delivery Committee and to the Coromandel Community Board.
Councillors felt the Community Board played an important part in the historical development of the Long Bay reserve but wanted to amend the inconsistency.
After much discussion, councillors stated that their preferred option was to amend the delegation of management decisions relating to the use of the Long Bay Reserve in favour of delegating to the Service Delivery Committee. The Council decided to seek feedback from the Community Board on that preferred option before any final decision is made.
