World Record & Two More Golds For Kiwi Cyclist
Wellington Paralympic cyclist, Paula Tesoriero has broken her own world record and won two more gold medals at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.
Tesoriero won the Flying 200 Start at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester in a time of 14.720 seconds to break her own world record and take the gold medal, she also won gold on the same day in the 3000m Individual Pursuit.
Only 24 hours earlier she had also won gold in the 500m Time Trial at the same World Cup meeting.
She had set the world record in the 200m Flying Start two months ago at the New Zealand Track Championships in Invercargill with a time of 14.911 seconds.
“Although I broke the world record in this event earlier in the year, I wasn’t happy with the time and really wanted to have another go to ensure my time stays in the record books for a long time” said Tesoriero from Manchester. “To come here and do that as well as win gold in two other events is fantastic,” said Tesoriero.
Tesoriero was invited to the BT Paralympic World Cup following her success in Beijing as organisers tried to get the best riders from around the world to compete.
Tesoriero’s next major competitions this year are the Road World Championships in Italy in September and the Track World Champs in Manchester in November where she has her sights set on World Champion jersey in the 500m time trial
Tesoriero won gold in world record time in the 500m time trial at the Beijing Paralympic Games and two bronze medals in the 3000m Individual Pursuit and the Individual Road Time Trial.
