In a bid to get Christchurch residents more involved in cycling,
Christchurch City Council, University of Canterbury and Turners Auctions
have teamed up and will hold the inaugural Turners Big Bike Auction on
Saturday 3 March at the university.

Members of the public interested in selling bikes can drop them off at
Turners Auctions on Lowther Street in Sockburn or at 15 Lester Street in
the city. Sellers of bikes also have the option of donating proceeds to
Child Cancer Foundation.

Council Marketing Manager Richard Stokes says the auction will cater for
any kind of bikes.

"We are keen to get bikes of all shapes and sizes including children's
bikes. Ideally the bikes will be road worthy but if there is just a
small repair that is needed then they will still be taken," he says.
