new website aims to solve world's space problems
Filling the world’s empty space is the mission behind an innovative new website, Findspace, developed in Christchurch and being launched on Monday June 15th.
“Empty space is wasted space,” Findspace Director Justin Ryan said. “But trying to find what you want is a lot harder than it should be.”
“There is a lot of empty commercial space around at the moment and there are a lot of businesses looking for space – there is nothing making it easy for the two groups to find each other hence why Findspace was created”
“There are many real-estate websites out there but none with the search capabilities of Findspace. Try looking for a 35 m2 office on Manchester St with 2 car parks and Air Conditioning? You just can’t do it”
Ryan says he had the idea after having to look for new office space and finding it was very difficult as there was nothing that showed all commercial listings together in one place.
“I had to physically drive around town looking for offices to lease as there was not one website where you could type in a location and your requirements and see everything that was available, how crazy is that in this day and age”
“Some commercial sites had information but it was often out of date which really wasted my time and searching with Google was not an option as I could not search based on my requirements, it was just too general”
“I thought there must be an easier way – bit there wasn’t – so I became committed to developing something that brings together all information based around a common theme, in this case ‘Area’, or anything that can be measured by m2, m3 or hectares”
Ryan also stresses that in the present economic climate many businesses may have empty rooms they could get extra income from or small businesses may be looking for opportunities to share office space and services.
“But how do you let others know that you are interested in sharing a building? It’s very hard hence why we have the ability to let the vendor and other users know that we like a property but it’s too big for us alone and we are open to share it”
“We are a like a little online dating service for businesses wanting to hook up to save money, share resources and meet their space needs easily. Plus, the best part is it’s totally FREE to list your empty space.
Findspace has had significant time and money invested in it’s search engine and Ryan says it will be a very valuable tool for Commercial Real Estate Agents, Commercial Property Investors and businesses that are looking for new premises or trying to reduce their ecological footprint by ensuring all available space is used efficiently.
“I know this is a common problem and our success will be measured when the next time we need to move office we can quickly find what we need on Findspace and without the headaches currently faced”
