Submissions on stormwater strategy closing

Those wanting to have their say about stormwater need to send in their submission on Council’s draft stormwater strategy by next Tuesday (30 June 2009) at 5.00pm.

Taupo District Council (TDC) is taking a proactive stance with the management of stormwater around the district and has developed a stormwater strategy which has been out for public review over the last month. The draft strategy encourages industry best practise and provides strategic direction for the management of stormwater.

“This draft strategy has been designed to cater for a variety of future climate scenarios,” said Infrastructure and Parks Group Manager Ted Anderson. “It will provide clear direction in terms of how Council manages the district’s stormwater systems to protect public safety, property and our environment,” he said.

The outcomes within the strategy will minimise the risk of flooding and aim to improve the quality of stormwater entering our lakes and rivers.
