Leveraging more rewards for and from Maori business will be the focus for a breakfast forming part of the Atamira: Maori in the City event in Auckland later this week.

EMA in conjunction with the Ministry of Maori Development is presenting a THRIVE Business Breakfast as an opportunity for businesses to understand and partner with Maori talent and resources.

Featured speakers will be the Hon. Dr Pita Sharples, Minister for Maori Development, and Chief Executive of Maori Television, Mr Jim Mather with networking amongst delegates also an important function of the event.

Dr Sharples will address: “The Role of Maori in the New Zealand Economy”; Mr Mather will speak on: “Maori Business: Changing the World”.

Chief executive of EMA, Alasdair Thompson, said: “In these difficult times, businesses need new partners and innovative relationships, and we believe this breakfast is a great way to begin unlocking the potential in Maori assets, and sharing the growth potential of them throughout the country.

“A key part of the Tu Tangata Poutama breakfast is to help New Zealand businesses understand and share in our unique cultural heritage,” Mr Thompson said.

“The breakfast will give participants an entry into the world of Maori business and the links they make there will better position them both domestically and internationally for growth and support.”

The breakfast to be held on Friday, July 3rd will be chaired by Mr Phil O’Reilly, Chief Executive of Business New Zealand. Questions from the floor will be taken, with discussion and networking for participants.

Tu Tangata Poutama forms part of the wider Atamira: Maori in the City event running from July 3rd through to Sunday, July 5th.
