Oceania Regional Championships team announced

Athletics New Zealand has selected seven under 23 development athletes to compete in the Oceania regional championships to be held on the Gold Coast Queensland early next month.

Michael Whitehead of Pukekohe, the New Zealand M19 800m champion, will compete in the 800m. Sprint representatives will be Clayton Mbofana of Auckland in the 100m and 200m and Scott Burch of Palmerston North in the 200m and 400m. Mbofana was second in both the 100m and 200m at the Arafura Games in Australia in May. Burch was second in the national M19 400m and third in the M19 200m.

Marshall Hall of Otago, who won the discus throw at the Arafura Games, will compete in the discus.

National M19 high jump champion Regan Standing of Hawera has been selected in the high jump.

Michael Cochrane of Tauranga will take part in the 110m and 400m hurdles. He was second in the 110m hurdles and third in the 400m hurdles at the national M19 championships.

The New Zealand W19 400m champion Rebecca Gibson of Southland will compete in the 400m.

Andrea Williams of Hastings will manage the team. 

The championships will be held on the 4, 6 and 8 August.
