KBC Night of Athletics
Nikki Hamblin, who was granted New Zealand citizenship last week, finished third over 1500m at the KBC night of athletics in Heusden.
Hamblin was two seconds off her personal best recording 4m 10.51s. The race was won by Hannah England of Great Britain in 4m 8.96s.
Richard Olsen from Christchurch recorded 3m 49.75s over 1500m, Tim Hawkes of Wellington ran 1m 52.74s for 800m and Marissa Pritchard of Wellington was out to 12.24m (+3.6) (11.85m +1.6, x 12.24m +3.6, 12.03m +2.0, x, x) in the triple jump.

David Ambler was third over 100m in 10.51s (+0.1). Also competing Andrea Miller seventh in the 100m hurdles in 13.45s (+0.1) and Andrew Moore sixth in the 200m in 21.66s (+0.1) with Cory Innes seventh in 21.97s.

ST LUCIA QUEENSLAND - 12 July 2009
James Dolphin 200m in 21.03s (+0.2), from Carl Van der Speck 21.18s and Matt Brown 21.29s. Van der Speck won the 100m in 10.48s (+2.2), from Dolphin 10.49s and Brown 10.67s. James Mortimer won the 110m hurdles in 14.72s (+0.4).

James Dolphin again in action over 200m in 21.12s (+0.0) from Carl Van der Speck 21.29s and Matt Brown 21.39s. Van der Speck won the 100m in 10.51s (+0.0) from Dolphin 10.69s and Brown 10.85s.

SOLIHULL GB - 18 July 2009
Alice Mason recorded a personal best 3000m of 9m 26.24s in finishing sixth at the British Milers Club meeting in Solihull.

BIRMINGHAM GB - 18 July 2009
In her first race since winning Gold at the World University Games Monique Williams competed in the 100m and 200m at the Birmingham Games. Williams was second in the 200m in 23.56s (+1.6), won her heat in the 100m in 11.77s (+1.1) and won the final in a season's best time of 11.71s (+0.9). Williams will compete at the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace in either the 200m or 400m this coming weekend.

HEILIGENBLUT, AUSTRIA - 19 July 2009
After winning the annual Grossglockner Lauf 12.7km mountain race for the last three years, and holding the race record of 1h 11m 43s from 2006, Jonathan Wyatt suffered his first defeat in a month of racing. Wyatt had to settle for second in a time under his record of 1h 11m 14s. Geoffrey-Gikuni Ndungu of Kenya set a fresh record of 1h 9m 36s in winning the race which climbs 1494m.

KAIPARA FLATS - 18 July 2009
Andy Kilding of Takapuna won the annual Wilkinson Trophy 11.6km road race on Saturday. Mikki Williden of Pakuranga won the women's race ahead of Whangarei's Simone Akermann.

AUCKLAND - 19 July 2009
Auckland Cross Country Championships, Showgrounds Pukekohe
Edwin Henshaw and Hannah Lawrence collected the senior titles at the Auckland Cross Country Championships on Sunday.
Henshaw was in control of the 12,000m race from the start winning as he liked in 42m 22s, over a minute ahead of Takapuna's Stephen Lett.
Henshaw was pleased with the victory achieved on a tough course.
"It was tiring in the mud and wind. We had a tail wind on the up hill and the head wind on the flat and with the mud on top of this it was a true cross country course," said Henshaw.
The 23 year old, who won the Auckland and New Zealand titles in 2007, will compete in the New Zealand championships in Christchurch in two weeks time before returning to his base in the States in Tulsa.
Hannah Lawrence, who has completed her athletic scholarship in the States, won the senior women's title running the 8000m in 34m 34s. Pakuranga club mate Lisa Robertson was second with Robyn Young of Takapuna third.
Lawrence spent five years in the States and has only just got back into running following injuries and surgery.
"I returned to running as part of my triathlon training and after today's win has got me interested again. I'd like to compete in the nationals," she said.
Lawrence (31) will also be competing in the world long course triathlon championship in Perth in October.
Alex Parlane and Mike Banks had a great battle in the M19 8000m, with Parlane staging a last second sprint to pip Banks for the title. Parlane recorded 29m 18s just one second ahead of Banks.
Danielle Trevis won the W19 6000m by a wide margin of over two minutes in 23m 57s.
The best of the masters were Paul Angland and Melanie Cossar.

TAURANGA - 18 July 2009
Waikato Bay of Plenty Cross Country Championships, Waipuna Park Welcome Bay
Steven O'Callaghan won the senior men's 12km in 42m 39s. Michael Pugh was second and Gareth Hyett third. Sarah Biss won the women's 8km title in 32m 25s, over a minute ahead of Demelza Murrihy-Topp. Bridget Ray won the masters 6km in 25m 42s while Kent Hodgson was the best of the masters 8km in 30m 15s. Aaron Pulford won the M19 8km in 27m 42s, Rochelle Sceats from Hastings won the W19 6km in 24m 29s from Rebecca Kingsford, Mohamed Ali won the M16 6km in 22m 2s and Mikayla Nielsen the W16 4km in 16m 32s.

Manawatu Wanganui Centre Cross Country Championships, Mackie Farm
With pre race favourite Tom Osborne ruled out with injury, the Senior Men's race over 12km was keenly contested. Feilding Moa's Paul MacDermid won his first Manawatu Wanganui Centre Senior Men's title in 45.41, breaking away from club mate Steve Stannard and Palmerston North's Andrew Davenport in the latter stages. Palmerston North demonstrated their considerable depth in easily retaining the Senior Mens teams title.
In the Senior Women's race over 8km, Feilding Moa's Wendy Cottrell-Teahan stepped down a grade to win the race in a time of 34.23 in a convincing display, heading off Sandi Pearson.
In the Women's 19 race, NZSS Senior Girls Champion Olivia Burne from Palmerston North, led from start to finish to win in a time of 24.00 over the 6km. Olivia will round off her season by competing in the NZ Cross Country in three weeks where she will be a medal contender in the Womens 19 grade, and possibly the Australian Cross Country Championships after that.
In the Masters grades, former NZ Cross Country representatives Wanganui's Rob Conder, and Bush's Lesley Graham took the winning honours. Rob Conder kept pace with the leading Senior Men's runners in winning the 8km in 31.11. Lesley Graham headed off Conder's wife Paula, in winning the 5km in 22.34.
In the junior grades, Feilding Moa's Stephanie Dickins won the Girls 16 grade in 17.09 over 4km and Kara MacDermid won the Girls U14 3km title in 12.20. Both athletes front running displays and times on the hard cross country course, showed them to be stars of the future and names to watch out for in the years to come.

WAIKANAE - 18 July 2009
Wellington Cross Country Championships, Waikanae Park
Rees Buck and Melissa Moon won the senior titles. Buck ran the 12km in 40m 8s to beat Scottish team mate James Coubrough by half a minute. Ryan Woolley also Scottish was third in 42m 9s. Moon was around the 8km in 31m 17s, eight seconds faster than Melanie Cleland. Grant McLean won the masters with Gabrielle O'Rourke heading in the masters women. 19 titles went to Ben Barry and Nicole Mitchell. Tim Stewart won the M16 and Sophie Pepperell the W16.

CHRISTCHURCH - 18 July 2009
Canterbury Cross Country Championships, Halswell Quarry
Andrew Davidson won the senior 12km title in 38m 44s. Rowan Hooper was second in 39m 27s with Stefan Smith of Wellington third in 39m 38s. Richard Bennett won the masters 8km in 26m 27s, with Phil Costley second in 27m 11s and Kerry Faass third in 27m 23s.
Fiona Crombie won the women's title over 8km in 29m 32s. Aine Hoban was second with Kellie Palmer third. Tracy Crossley headed in the master women in 23m 32s for the 6km.
Nicki McFadzien collected the W19 title, Alex Fowler the M19, Thomas Holmes the M16 and Margot Gibson the W16.

Peninsula Relay
Otago University Girls team of Andrea Peat, Charlotte Butler-Munro, Barbara Roy, Dorothee Hodapp, Olivia Tuck, Madeline Munro, Sonia Grant and Kate Biddlecombe won the relay from Hill City No. 3 and Ariki No 1. Hill City No. 1 of Alex Gorrie, Cameron McNoe, Elliot O'Sullivan, Mike Wakelin, William Scorgie, Richard Murphy, Oliver O'Sullivan and Tom Hunt took fastest time honours.

INVERCARGILL - 18 July 2009
Southland Cross Country Championships, Talbot Park
Shaun Burgess did not let the atrocious weather conditions which included gale force winds, driving rain and freezing conditions slow him down in winning the senior title for the second year in a row. Although he is a M19 he chose to run as a senior. Burgess recorded 44m 48s for the 12km. Ricky Gutsell was second in 45m 58s.
Christina Taylor W19 won the combined women's 6km in 24m 44s, from master Kathy Maclachlan and Genevieve Bourke. Aaron Barclay won the M19 8km in 29m 57s, 26s ahead of Glen Ballam.
