Kiwis Beaten In Badminton Semis In Australia

The New Zealand badminton pair of Donna Haliday and Danielle Barry have been beaten in the semifinals of the US$50,000 Australian Open in Melbourne.

As the top seeds the Kiwis had not dropped a game on the way to the semis but were defeated by the third seeds from India, Aparan Balan and Shruit Kurian in straight games.

Haliday(Auckland) and Barry(Waitakere) will be the third seeds at next weeks US$50,000 Grand Prix New Zealand Open starting on Tuesday at the North Shore Events Centre.
