A lack of wind in Varberg, Sweden means that the sixth and final race at the 2009 Star World Championships was cancelled and has been rescheduled for midday 8th August in Sweden. Hamish Pepper and Craig Monk still have their one point lead in the Championship and one race to sail before the world title is decided.

The kiwis are assured of seventh place or better in the 86 boat fleet.

While frustrating for organisers, sailors of the calibre competing in the Olympic Star class have endured plenty of light wind days in their sailing careers and all will remain focussed on the job until the series is concluded.

The weather forecast is for southeast winds of 7-8 knots, a mild 21.3 degrees and cloud. Organisers and sailors will be hoping to sail tonight and conclude the regatta, however one further reserve day is allowed for should racing be cancelled again.
