LAHTI, FINLAND - 28 July to 8 August 2009
World Masters Championships
Margaret Peters set a world W75 400m record of 87.17s in winning gold at the world masters championships. Peters also won the W75 100m in 16.46s and the 200m in 34.55s. Peters was a member of the New Zealand W75 4 x 400m team along with Marcia Petley, Dawn Cumming and Clasina Van Der Veeken which won the event in 6m 58.70s.
Marcia Petley won the W80 200m in 46.36s.
Mike Parker was fifth in the M55 10km walk in 51m 2s and fourth in the M55 20km walk in 1h 54m 51s, held at Felmann Park.
Andrew Stark was third in the M50 1500m in 4m 16.37s, while Sue Waru was third in the W60 1500m in 6m 24.35s. Dawn Cumming was second in the W75 1500m in 7m 19.33s and Clasina Van Der Veeken was fourth in the same race in 8m 27.54s. Cumming won the W75 2000m steeplechase in 12m 3.04s with Van Der Veeken second in 13m 4.82s. Jan Fleming was second in the W70 marathon in 4h 50m 28s.

Bays Relay - Island Bay to Kilbirnie
Scottish A team beat the Scottish B team in the Bays Relay on Saturday. On the last lap the A team runner Rees Buck turned a 30 seconds deficit into a 19 seconds victory. Buck set a lap record of 11m 48s for the 4km, breaking Andrew Young's 2001 time of 12m 2s.
Wellington Harriers won the women's relay the masters men 40-49 and the junior men, while Scottish won the masters women, master men 50 plus and the junior women.

CHRISTCHURCH - 8 August 2009
Governors Bay to Lyttelton 10km road race
Martin Lukes was the fastest in the senior men with 32m 47s, from Ross Smith 33m 33s. Alicia Evans ran the fastest time in the senior women of 37m 42s. Alex Williams who won the race on handicap was the next quickest with 39m 3s. Karen Muller was the fastest master women with 38m 47s and Joe Ford was the best in the master men with 34m 4s.

SOUTHLAND - 8 August 2009
Glen Ballam won the ILT street mile in Invercargill on Saturday. In a sprint finish over the final quarter mile Ballam just held out Shaun Burgess by four tenths of a second to win in 4m 28.2s. Christina Taylor was the first woman in 5m 10.2s. Genevieve Bourke was second in 5m 16.3s. Twelve year old Meg Adamson was third in 5m 19.4s, faster than Taylor's winning time last year. Glen MacIntosh won the masters in 4m 55.6s with Kathy Maclachlan the best of the master women in 5m 23.6s.
