CREATIVE sign writers arise, Sanson needs you.

Suitable signage is required for billboards to be sited near the former Sanson Hotel alerting visitors to the existence of an upgraded public toilet block at the rear of the building.

Economic Development and Projects Officer, Suzanne Craig, said the two signs would also direct people to the toilets.

One of the signs is planned for a spot near the town’s current toilets on Dundas Road – which will be demolished once work on the upgrade is completed in October - and the other in the vicinity of the layby/carpark area near the proposed block.

“We need to let people know where the toilets are, with some of them having to walk through an existing playground and down a new pathway,” said Ms Craig.

And in an attempt to get the best creative minds on the job, Manawatu District Council is offering a prize for the most innovative signage.

Ms Craig said some examples could be “Dunnies on Dundas Road” or “Sanson Pit Stop”.

“We encourage people to take some creative licence with their words and also supply photos and slogans which can be computer-generated or hand-drawn,” she said.

Entries are to be sent to Ms Craig at MDC, Private Bag 10-001, Feilding 4743, or email Suzanne.craig@mdc.govt.nz by Monday, August 31.
