SADD Short Film Competition

Students Against Driving Drunk, or SADD, is a peer education based organisation that has been in New Zealand secondary schools for 23 years.

During last week's SADD Week, students ran activities in their schools and communities with support from the SADD team to raise the awareness of SADD and highlight their key messages.

SADD, in conjunction with Blue Light is currently holding a Short Film Competition with major cash prizes and the overall winner getting prime time screening on TV!

East Waikato Road Safety Coordinator, Ingrid Le Fevre is running a competition through the ten libraries in the Thames-Coromandel, Hauraki and Matamata-Piako Districts with the winner to be announced Thursday 27 August.

SADD’s primary objective is to reduce the harm caused on our roads by drunk drivers by promoting positive behaviour changes in 13 – 17 year olds. SADD is run in secondary schools by students for students, independent of the school curriculum, and encourages participation across all school year levels, gender and cultures. SADD believes in the ability of our youth to take action and to create change. Because of this our initiatives and key messages are driven by young people, for young people. The SADD programme is adaptable, enabling students to design and present their activities and events in a way that caters to the unique environment and culture of their school or community.
