Team Manager Raylene Bates is delighted with overall performances

New Zealand team manager Raylene Bates is delighted with the overall performances of the team.

"We've had some outstanding performances. Kimberley kicked us off with a top eight finish on the first night, obviously Val winning the second night was just really what inspired the team.

Brent's doing well in the decathlon, Monique's run last night and a New Zealand record absolutely outstanding. Nikki's through to the semi-finals of the 1500m and that's not her preferred event, obviously her mishap in the 800m meant that she competed in the 1500m," said Bates.

"We're really excited, it's great, really really good.

"It's great for our future, there's some really young athletes who have shown that they've got what it takes on the world's stage, give these guys another couple of years, that's the core for the future, that's great." she added.
