DUNEDIN

For those of you who follow her work, she is the creator of some of the most riveting reads in contemporary fiction. For those of you who don’t, Diana Gabaldon is the international bestselling author of the Outlander series, fondly referred to as the Cross-Stitch series by many of her fans.

News of her upcoming visit to Dunedin on 3 November 2009 heralds one of the most exciting literary events for our City this year. Hosted by the Dunedin Public Libraries in the Sir Clifford Skeggs Gallery, readers will have the opportunity to see the author up close and personal as she launches the seventh book of her Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone.

Set in 1778, in the mountains of North Carolina; the latest novel follows Highlander Jamie Fraser and his time-travelling wife Claire as they struggle to return to the safety of the Highlands of Scotland, from a land on the brink of a bloody revolution. Family ties are stretched to the limit as time, tide and the politics of war threaten to separate Jamie and Claire indefinitely from those they love. Sanctuary may lie in an escape to the present day, but something mysterious awaits the family there...

Gabaldon’s tour of New Zealand recognises the importance of her New Zealand followers. Kiwis are huge buyers of her series and avid readers of this epic saga have waited four years for the return of Jamie and Claire.

An Echo in the Bone promises to deliver the same heart stopping excitement as its predecessors, and now, thanks to Hachette New Zealand Ltd and Dunedin Public Libraries, your latest Outlander experience can be crowned with the memory of meeting its creator first-hand in Dunedin and getting your copy of the book personally signed.
