The BLACKCAPS top order got some valuable batting practice in their ICC Champions Trophy warm up match against the Warriors at LC de Villiers Oval, Pretoria.

Martin Guptill was the best of the batting line up striking 78 with Ross Taylor hitting 51 as they shared a 95 run for the second wicket.

Grant Elliott made a useful knock of 47 but the rest of the batting line up couldn’t take advantage of the solid start losing their last seven wickets for 27 runs to be all out for 237 in the 47th over.

Warriors strike bowler Juan Theron did most of the damage taking five for 42.

In contrast, the Warriors had contributions from their top eight batsmen with captain Davey Jacobs top scoring with 54.

The BLACKCAPS bowlers pushed them close with the Warriors hitting the winning runs off the penultimate over handing them a two wicket win.

Ian Butler was the best of the attack taking four for 53 with Daryl Tuffey returning three for 49.
