TSUNAMI RELEASE 4 - Emergency response/Current situation.

  • The tsunami alert remains active.
  • The second wave is expected to arrive at approximately the following times – Wairoa 12.50pm, Napier 1.15pm, and Southern Hawke’s Bay 1.30pm.
  • It is expected the wave will be no greater than half a metre and then smaller waves to follow.
  • Take normal precautions, stay away from low-lying and coastal areas and continue to listen to the radio at key news bulletin times.
  • Hawke’s Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group will keep people updated until the alert is cancelled.
