New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling (NZWPW) is joining the fight to improve men’s health by getting in the ring for Movember with current heavyweight champion D-Hoya leading the way.

The Movember Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which raises awareness and funds for men’s health issues.

This year’s funding will go to the Cancer Society of New Zealand in support of prostate cancer and the Mental Health Foundation for its ‘Out of the Blue’ depression awareness campaign.

Managing Director of NZWPW, Martin Stirling says the wrestlers are excited to be raising money for Movember and have set world renowned wrestler Hulk Hogan’s impressive mo as a benchmark for them all to aspire to.

“The guys can’t wait to take part and there is a lot of ribbing going on between them as to who will grow the best one,” he says. “The big mo unveiling show is going to be a huge affair so we hope to see a lot of people come down and show their support for Movember.”

Each wrestler taking part will participate in a public shave-off at a preliminary show on October 30th. Their mo-growing efforts will then be recognised at a celebratory show on Friday, November 27th.

The show will feature some of the country’s other top pro wrestling talent including Rufguts, JC Star, Corey Dallas and Stellar Hammer.

The NZWPW mo unveiling will be held at the Lower Hutt Town Hall - doors open at 7pm with the show due to start at 7:30pm.

Tickets will cost $15 for an Adult/Teen and $10 for a Child and are available from the Sports Den, 67 Queens Drive, Lower Hutt - all proceeds will be donated to Movember.

About Movember
Movember (the month formerly known as November) is an annual, month-long charity men’s health charity event that raises money for Cancer Society of New Zealand and the New Zealand Mental Health Foundation. At the start of Movember, men register with a clean shaven face and have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache, raising as much money and awareness as possible to benefit men’s health.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at official Gala Parties in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch - the highlight of any Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s social calendar. Every Mo Bro has a chance to win the coveted 'Man of Movember' title.

D-Hoya - Current New Zealand Heavyweight Champion
D-Hoya is one of the original wrestlers on the NZWPW Roster and a mainstay of the Wellington Wrestling scene. Born and Bred in Lower Hutt, he has wrestled some of the biggest names in New Zealand Wrestling. To his credit, he was a match with ex WWE Hardcore Champion Raven last year during the AWF/NZWPW explosion Tour. D-Hoya has a powerful hard hitting style that has maintained his spot at the top of this game and helping him become six- time New Zealand Champion. He is the most prolific champion of recent times.

Rufguts
Weighing in at 130kgs, Rufguts is one of NZWPW’s larger wrestlers but don't let his size deceive you. His agility enables him to take down all comers with his technical skill as well as his powerful size. Earlier this year he earned his way into the triple threat main event at Power Play 6, which saw him face Adam Avalanche and WWE Superstar Chris Masters. He also went on to win NZWPW's August event "Right to Challenge" which gives him the right to fight the current New Zealand Heavyweight Champion whenever he chooses.
