Yves Dombrowsky Biography
Yves Dombrowsky’s was brought up in Noumea and trained as a biochemist. He then moved to New Zealand and was involved in research with essential oils as a potential solution for Sick Building Syndrome. When he was made redundant, part of his redundancy package involved keeping his original research. He took his knowledge – and himself – to the South of France where his parents were living and convinced a friend of his father’s, a perfume designer for Chanel, to give him a job. After year or so he was moved back to New Zealand and started to design fragrances for himself. His clients now include some of New Zealand’s best-known beauty brands – Trilogy, Living Nature, Linden Leaves and Antipodes – and one of its newest, Snowberry. He’s also lent his nose to eco-friendly products like BEE and Ecostore and created bespoke fragrances for nail expert Sarah Priddy, who has launched a line of handcare products, jeweller Michael Hill, fashion designers Kylee Davis and Trelise Cooper and label Stitch Ministry.
