Young Entrepreneurs Sought for Global Initiative
The call is going out to young entrepreneurs to take part in a global project.
Monday-week (16 November) is the start of Global Entrepreneurship Week, and New Plymouth District Council is helping arrange a speed networking breakfast for up to 30 local young entrepreneurs.
“It’s not unlike speed dating, but instead the young entrepreneurs will be discussing ideas,” says Manager Corporate Strategy and Policy Kate Macnaught.
“Anyone 35 or younger who is interested in taking part should contact us by midday next Tuesday (10 NOVEMBER) with an answer to the question, ‘What difference can entrepreneurship make to Taranaki?’, and we’ll confirm the participants at the end of the week.”
Young entrepreneurs are also being contacted through the Taranaki CEOs Forum and the Young Enterprise Scheme, and through the Facebook group Taranaki Entrepreneurs.
The speed networking event on 16 November will be filmed, with a five-minute video package that will be televised in Washington and London as part of the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The participants’ notes and the video will also be part of Puke Ariki’s new exhibition ‘Taranaki Fortunes: Lost and Won’.
The aim of the week is to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, with 78 countries taking part last year.
Anyone interested in in the speed networking breakfast should contact NPDC on 06-759 6060 or enquiries@npdc.govt.nz.
