WELLINGTON CITY

We've got heaps of stuff going on this weekend in Wellington in honour of our chance to qualify for next year's World Cup.

As well as that, the New Zealand Freestyle Football Championships - the art of expressing yourself with a football, while performing various tricks with any part of the body (except hands) - will leave you amazed. Games and tricks will last until around 4.00pm.

As soon as that's over, Team Wellington will play Auckland City FC at Newtown Park at 4.15pm. There'll be additional transport services from Newtown Park to the Stadium - in plenty of time for the 8.00pm match against Bahrain.

If you can't make it to any of these events but want to pledge your support, you can leave a personalised message for the All Whites at the One Shot for Glory website.

Big Screen to Broadcast All Whites Game

Wellington City Council has secured rights to Saturday's All Whites vs Bahrain game and will broadcast it live on a big screen at Queens Wharf.

If the All Whites win the game, which kicks off at 8.00pm at Westpac Stadium, they qualify for the World Cup Final for the first time in 27 years.

The Council's Sport and Recreation Portfolio Leader, Councillor John Morrison, says the Council will be putting up a 40-square-metre screen so that people who missed out on getting tickets to the sold-out match could still see the game.

"Reaction to having the game in Wellington has been amazing. People have been asking me for tickets and they are prepared to pay any price to get them. Broadcasting the game on the big screen means everyone will be able to get involved for free."

The screen will be installed by lunchtime on Saturday.
