Summerdaze approaching
Summerdaze is fast approaching as the days warm up and preparations come together for the Queenstown Lakes District’s month-long, fun-filled summer festival.
“The programme has been finalised and it’s packed to the brim with events all over the district,” Queenstown Lakes District Council arts and events facilitator Jan Maxwell said.
“This year the festival will feature events for all ages and interests with plenty of free community events,” Mrs Maxwell said.
All the local favourites would be back with the ever popular tea dances, the signature AWS Legal Teddy Bear Picnics and New Year’s Eve fireworks displays in Queenstown and Wanaka.
“New Year’s Eve is going to be huge. The organisers are guaranteeing a great show with a fantastic line-up of bands signed up for both Queenstown and Wanaka, and a cracking fireworks display to top the night off,” Mrs Maxwell said.
A new and exciting event making its debut at this year’s festival was feature local actors bringing Shakespeare’s finest works to life in a tranquil outdoor setting.
“Imagine Shakespeare’s loveliest scenes staged outdoors in the stunning setting of the Queenstown Gardens. This one is not to be missed,” she said.
The festival would run from December 31, 2009 through to January 31, 2010.
The programme of events would hit the streets early December and was available now at www.summerdaze.co.nz
