A ‘rubbish roadshow’ will soon hit the road in Hastings District, bringing tips on how to reduce waste and save money to the residents of Hastings, Havelock North and Flaxmere.

The Rubbish Roadshow is a chance for families to learn about some of the easy ways they can reduce waste, make money go further and generally be more environmentally aware.

Special guests include the Litter Fairy and representatives from the Hawks. The roadshow will include performances, competitions, educational material and a chance to speak to experts in the field of sustainability.

Environment Enhancement Officer Jacqui Barnes said the roadshow was a great opportunity to spread the ‘Keep Hastings Beautiful’ message.

“The more enthusiasm we can get for keeping our environment clean and litter-free, the better it is for everyone who lives here. It’s even better that many waste reduction steps will actually save you money over the course of a year, so there’s a double incentive for people.”

The roadshow will be in the Hastings city centre 2-5 December, Wednesday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm, Saturday 9.00-12.00pm. It will visit Flaxmere from 9-12 December and Havelock North 16-19 December. More details about these visits will be advertised closer to the events.
