Canterbury and Auckland consolidated their hold on the top two placings after day two of the National Under-19 tournament in Auckland – with Canterbury edging ahead after a comfortable win over Wellington.

Canterbury dismissed Wellington in their 47th over for 211, well short of the 268 the southern side had compiled – with several of their batsmen getting among the runs.

After dismissing Northern Districts for 178, Auckland paced their run chase well, overhauling the target in the 48th over, David Goddard top scoring with 68.

The top score of the day came in the match between Central Districts and Otago. Central’s Dane Cleaver scored 111, helping his side to a match-winning total of 250. Central then bundled Otago out in the 48th over, still 31 runs behind.
